What will it take for I (I as "me" or I as "you") to wake up into the EXPERIENCE and REALIZATION of Oneness?
(Why should you care? Only because there lies the only lasting, practical resolution to absolutely every problem you seem to be facing, whether loneliness, financial scarcity, physical problems or frustration with life purpose. Now read on...)
I mean really! It's all very well, isn't it, to know the theory of this alleged thing called Oneness which of course isn't a thing. (Hint: it's not a particle either, but it CAN be experienced through a wave!). So many of us have heard about Oneness. We learned about infinity in High School math and physics classes; or about God through our preachers; or about Enlightenment or Oneness through our groovy spiritual teachers. And it IS important to know "about" Oneness. Some call this the letter of the law, which is definitely needed in addition to the spirit of the law.
But obviously, "knowing about" something is the very essence of duality (I prefer the word "Twoness"). How can you "know about" Oneness?
Yes, to those non-dual purists, I realize that communion still implies two, but it's a sexy two! I'm a woman. I like foreplay. Have you heard that men fake foreplay (just as women supposedly fake orgasm!)? Some folks who talk about the "direct path" (i.e. mental, looking, the neocortex sitting on the head-balcony looking "down" at the mind, emotions and body) are, to my embodied feminine soul, like those wham-bam-thankyou-ma'am one-night-stand guys (the which I have fortunately almost never experienced, but certainly hear about from clients). And in a certain sense, we are all women in relation to the Infinite––I mean in the sense that when consciousness comes into a body, it is exploring the material (matter = mater or mother) or feminine aspect of itself, as opposed to the pure, unchanging awareness aspect which is more masculine.
Is coming into a body a big mistake that consciousness makes? It seems to involve a huge special effect sometimes called duality, Twoness, which causes us to go round and round between opposites, trying to resolve all our problems at the same level of consciousness that is causing them. (And by the way, Einstein did NOT say this! But it's a popular meme for a reason!).
The only mistake I'm aware of having made is: coming into a body, suffering... and then assuming that this is "just the way things are," and hunkering down for the most comfortable ride back to death, when it will all be over. Even some spiritual paths which misunderstand the meaning of acceptance and surrender can actually be a spiritually cosmetic version of this delusion. Feelings of sadness, anger and fear which are meant to wake us up are ploughed under with an onslaught of sitting still, listening and reading again and again to teachings about acceptance, stillness (keep away from that nasty wave motion in your body!) and so on. We come to believe suffering is part of Life. And that sucks, because Life is our Source, our parent, even if we don't call it God (it's so much less painful to tell yourself that Emptiness is neutrally causing your pain, than to deal with how enraged you are about being separate from that Beloved that you can barely remember snuggling with).
Suffering is not inevitable. Well, I will correct that... suffering is inevitable, but it is a wake-up call. If we don't hear the call we miss an incredible opportunity. Even despair is the empty side, the shadow, of awakening! The areas of our lives in which we suffer are telling us something. They contain within them doorways back home to Reality, or Oneness, or whatever you call It. The popular method of processing painful feelings only using the mind simply doesn't work, in the end. It may leave you "mentally enlightened" and also sick, or fat, or broke, or alone. And probably very, very busy! Yet are you not, dear sister/brother, exhausted from your various strategies to control your own and/or other people's feelings? Are you not bottoming out from your endlessly trying-trying to control and manipulate people, places and things so you can be happy and safe, rich and healthy, etc.?
Is it possible that you don't have to do all that?
I'm asking all these questions, but I'm not meaning to mess with your mind. I've found something that, over time, has really shifted reality for me in such a huge way that I hardly know how to express it here in words. Because I don't really know who I'm talking to. One-on-one or with a group where I can interact, I find it quite easy to get the infinite wave experience across in a way that it comes to feel like your own journey. Writing about this wavy awakening is... different. It's so easy to read words like this and take them as something already known, or something to compete with, or something to fear, because what is being said might up-end our towers of small "s"elf.
OK, I'll try and answer the question: What will it take for I (I as "me" or I as "you") to wake up into the EXPERIENCE of Oneness with everything?
Of course there are many doorways, and it is an unfoldment. My profession is to reveal such doorways and walk with people over time on this evolutionary path. But for blog's sake, here is a quickie doorway which is a kind of foreplay which might even take you to a quickie spiritual orgasm. Don't try to "know" this doorway like a technique to add to your bag, but actually go inside it...
...you could try right now to tumble backwards out of these words, out of your forward-ness (looking at the screen, reaching to the mouse) and fall back, back, back into the river of breath that didn't go away the whole time you had traveled into your eyes, to read these words, your mind, to process them. Don't "observe" your breathing, whatever you do! Fall into it. Ride it like a wave, then... let IT ride "you." Tweet you later!
